Holbox was a fishing village long before it was a destination, and it shows: here, fishing isn’t a photo-op show — it’s the house trade. The captains who take you out learned these waters from their fathers, and they know where to go by season, wind and tide — which, in the end, is what you’re really hiring. We offer three ways to go fishing, depending on what you’re after, and all three are priced per boat, not per person: the group decides without doing awkward math.
Mini fishing: the family outing
Shoreline and calm-water fishing, on a boat for small groups. It currently costs from 5,500 mxn per boat. Ideal with kids, or for anyone who’s never held a rod: the captain teaches, helps, celebrates your first catch with you, and doesn’t mind explaining five times. Short outings, protected waters, zero pressure. It is, honestly, one of the best first sea experiences you can give a kid.
Eco tour + fishing: the best of both worlds
Combines the lagoon ride and its landscapes with real fishing time. It currently costs from 7,000 mxn per boat. It’s the option for groups where not everyone fishes: some cast lines, others watch birds — the lagoon sits inside the Yum Balam protected area and birds abound —, and everyone comes back happy. The perfect plan when the group has one enthusiastic angler and three skeptical companions.
Deep-sea fishing: the serious one
Open water, heavier gear, and the big species of the zone. It currently costs from 18,000 mxn per boat. It’s for those who already know what they’re after — or want to find out with a captain who’s spent his whole life on these waters and treats the sea with the respect of someone who lives off it. Longer day, open sea, and the kind of stories nobody believes later.
What’s included?
Boat, captain, fishing gear, and the local expertise of knowing WHERE to go by season and wind — the data no app carries. What you catch, depending on species and current regulations, comes home with you or goes back to the sea: here we fish by the rules of a protected area, and that’s part of the deal with the sea that feeds us.
What to bring
Hat, sunglasses, biodegradable sunscreen, light long-sleeve clothing, water and — for the open-water version — a seasickness pill if you need one. Enthusiasm is included; patience is supplied by the sea.
Quick questions
Do I need experience? For mini fishing and the eco tour, none. For deep-sea it helps, but the captain tunes the day to your level.
Can kids come? Yes, especially on mini fishing — it’s their format. Write with ages and we’ll confirm the plan.
What if the weather won’t allow it? The captain decides for safety, and if the sea says no, we move the date with you. The sea rules; we coordinate.

Los capitanes que te llevan aprendieron estas aguas de sus padres, y saben dónde ir según la temporada, el viento y la marea — que es, al final, lo que de verdad estás contratando. Ofrecemos tres formas de salir a pescar, según lo que busques, y las tres se pagan por lancha, no por persona: el grupo decide sin hacer cuentas raras.
Mini pesca: la salida familiar
Es la pesca de orilla y aguas tranquilas, en lancha para grupos chicos. Actualmente cuesta desde 5,500 mxn por lancha. Ideal con niños o para quien nunca ha tenido una caña en la mano: el capitán enseña, ayuda, celebra contigo la primera captura y no le importa repetir la explicación cinco veces. Salidas cortas, aguas protegidas, cero presión. Es, sin exagerar, una de las mejores primeras experiencias de mar que le puedes regalar a un niño.
Eco tour + pesca: lo mejor de dos mundos
Combina el recorrido por la laguna y sus paisajes con tiempo real de pesca. Actualmente cuesta desde 7,000 mxn por lancha. Es la opción para grupos donde no todos pescan: unos tiran línea, otros miran aves — la laguna está dentro del área protegida de Yum Balam y las aves sobran —, y todos vuelven contentos. El plan perfecto cuando en el grupo hay un pescador entusiasta y tres acompañantes escépticos.
Pesca mayor: la seria
Mar adentro, equipo mayor y las especies grandes de la zona. Actualmente cuesta desde 18,000 mxn por lancha. Es para quien ya sabe lo que busca — o para quien quiere averiguarlo con un capitán que lleva toda la vida en estas aguas y que trata el mar con el respeto de quien vive de él. Jornada más larga, mar abierto, y esa clase de historias que después nadie te cree.
¿Qué incluye?
Lancha, capitán, equipo de pesca y la experiencia local de saber DÓNDE ir según la temporada y el viento — el dato que no viene en ninguna app. Lo que pesques, dependiendo de la especie y la regulación vigente, puede volver contigo o al mar: aquí se pesca con las reglas de un área protegida, y eso es parte del trato con el mar que nos da de comer.
¿Qué llevar?
Gorra, lentes de sol, bloqueador biodegradable, ropa ligera de manga larga, agua y — para la versión de mar adentro — pastilla de mareo si la necesitas. El entusiasmo va incluido; la paciencia la pone el mar.
